To ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and providers, Advanced ENT has limited our operational hours and staff due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Our offices will now be opened from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday. Our Stratford office will remain closed. Starting the week of May 4th we will start seeing more patients in our offices with a limited schedule and heightened safety measures. Telemedicine appointments will still be available for higher risk patients and for routine follow ups (test results, prescription refills, etc). PLEASE CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE SAFETY MEASURES PRIOR TO YOUR OFFICE VISIT.

Otosclerosis is a familial disease that causes conductive hearing loss. The hearing loss usually starts in young adulthood and progresses over time. It tends to accelerate during pregnancy. It is caused by an over growth of bone causing fixation of the stapes bone in the middle ear. The incidence of this disease has been on the decline and that is thought to be due to the addition of fluoride to drinking water. The condition can be treated with the fitting of a hearing aid or with a surgical procedure known as a Stapedectomy. In this procedure, the stapes bone is removed and replaced with a prosthesis.

This disease is diagnosed audiometrically and any decision regarding surgical intervention should be based on the audiometric findings and a discussion with an otolaryngologist.

Some of the more common ear and hearing problems are listed below. Please click on the links below to learn more. For more information about any of these disorders and conditions or for questions about a condition not listed here, please contact us to schedule an appointment.
